In Florida
Have been running around in Orlando and the environs. No need to run or jog while down here; accompanyng a six-year old to Disney is like running a Marathon, anyway. As hot and humid as Saigon in May, just before the rains start.

Multi-tasking
Last night after a brief stop by at the National Press Club I saw a guy crossing E Street at 14th on a skateboard. Just that would have been enough of an accomplishment for me. But he was also puffing on a cigarette, talking on a cell phone and zipping up his pants. All at the same time.

Feeling Better
First day I have actually felt near 100%. Guess I just can't deal with jet lag anymore.
Callie finished a week of horse riding camp today. She rode a miniature pony--her second summer to go to the camp. My first pro photo assignment for my new D50: I shot the group portrait of the kids. Payment: four slices of pizza at today's graduation party.
One important thing I learned at the camp: when kids are shoveling horse manure out of a stall (the fine art of mucking), do NOT open your mouth wide to laugh.

After another day or so of TV watching, my conclusion is that TV is still stupid, even with a plethora of networks and narrowcasting. It's Bruce Springsteen's old 500 channels adage...they're there but there's nothing really on.
And has CNN gone downhill or is it just me? If you ever get to watch CNN International, just do a comparison. It's like the difference between the NYP and the NYT. Are they maximizing the fire/highway accident/lost persons stories to compete with Fox or have they always been that way and I just did not realize?

For a loop
OK, I was really under the weather for a few days after arriving back in the DC area. Perhaps cumulative exhaustion from the past year.
Anyway, three favorites: channel 43 on XM satellite radio (indie music), the Documentary Channel, and the Henry Rollins Show on the IFC channel.

Dear Abby, A couple of women moved in across the hall from me. One is a
middle-aged gym teacher and the other is a social worker in her mid
twenties. These two women go everywhere together and I've never seen a man
