iPod and extra credit
OK, first a serious thing--an extra credit question--
1. What would the US be WITHOUT one of the three branches of government? Pick a branch and describe the US government system without it. One page maximum.
2. And a much less serious note: I have about 3,000 tunes so far on my iPod. This morning uploaded the soundtrack to Julie Andrews' performance in Cinderella and three albums by Yo La Tengo.

Freezing Cold
All right, it's not below zero here, but it is so pleasant I can dine at an outdoor cafe and not become totally coated in sweat (TCIS) during the experience. I love winters in Saigon.

Your Choice Buffet
Great new upscale buffet in HCMC: Nha Hang Tu Chon Ngon. for only $5 you have a white table-cloth dining experience, super fast service (because you serve yourself!), and food comparable to other high-level Vietnamese restaurants in town. It is at 25 Le Thanh Ton Street near Thai Van Lung.

I tried to post a message yesterday but perhaps I was still too jet-lagged to get it right.
A plug for Eva Air, expanding on my December 22 post: we traveled to/from the States in their economy deluxe class--for only $200 beyond normal economy rates you get a very cushy seat with almost as much leg room as business class. Flight attendants are nice and food is plentiful.
Thirty-six hours door-to-door from my mom's house in Marlboro to our apartment in District 1.
Kids got over the jet lag immediately, with the five-year old tormenting us with her chirpiness.

A bit warmer here
Going out to the ocean this morning. Seems like an odd thing to do on the East Coast in winter time, but we will cast some flowers into the sea in remembrance of my aunt. Following her wishes, when she passed away in 1996 we scattered her ashes in the Atlantic near an old beach town town called Ocean City.
